  • In Swedish you say POLSKA about this dancetune. In english it meens...

  • its a great folk- sound

  • As far as I know the two finnish singers were part of the band only for a while. I saw them once in the very early 90' (Ale Stenar i Skane = magic!)and the girls were not there and I think there were a few more guys too...? I don't even know if the band still exists...?

  • Spielen die live immer ohne Sänger?

do they play live always without singers?

  • You are absolutely right, we tend to forget this in Poland, as Polka became so popular that is treated now as a part of our folk heretige. I dug a little for this "polska" etymology and it might be, that it comes from the times, when Poland and Sweden were (almost) united under Wasa dynasty and had fought a number of wars. Unnecessary wars, needles to say, as we should have had both united against Russia. But that's a different story...

  • To be honest... Polka is Czech dance and music... It's common mistake...

  • O! I did not know that! Thanks.

Funny enough Polonaise is also o Polish type of dance/music, vide Chopin's Polonaises.

  • First tune: Polska after Hagholm, next: Polska after Blinda Pelle(Rullin)

  • This type of swedish folk-dancemusic are just Polska!! Polka is 2-beat, polska in different kind of 3-beat. Variants of name: Pols, Pollonaise, Springar, Springlek etc etc..

  • not "Polska" my friends, but "Polka".

"Polska" means "Poland", and "Polka" is a Polish folk dance and type of music at the same time. "Polka", btw, means "a Polish woman".

    hey
