It's from the jap spec mk3 supra. It was made as a cheaper alternative to the 7m-gte which was supposed to be the top of the range at the time which proved to be a worse motor with a head gasket issue. They are suppose to just drop straight into (same engine mounts) a hilux and are a huge improvement on power. The 1G is very reliable. 80's motor still being dropped into various cars today.

hey man i got this engine in my ute, i got a couple of questions does yours runn high on rpm's when you start it up??? and does your seam to grind in second gear a little , any tips on what i can do to prevent/ stop this annoying ness?
