All my life, I've admired the rustic, old "peek-in" exhibits in Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm... so much that I recently attempted to create one in my yard! This is set in a weathered and run-down, wooden playhouse left over from my childhood -- a perfect scene for an old miner, down on his luck, counting his last remaining gold coins. Most of the props are authentic antiques; and my grandfather's rusted, old tools found a new home in here. (Oh, and don't make fun of the highly-sophisticated animation in the karate-chopping arm!)

  • Hey so how did the peek in work for you this halloween?

    ~BRian

  • @TheLApitfighter Worked great, thanks! I improved the animation by using a wiper motor to move Johnny's arm and also jiggle the scale. Once again, I sent chocolate coins down a chute -- along with golden dollars -- to trick-or-treaters who yelled "Eureka!" There was more traffic this year, so I think word is spreading! It was a lot of fun and I look forward to many fun years ahead.

  • @AdamConlea Sounds like alot of fun hahaha..you should film it next time and post it up on youtube

  • @TheLApitfighter I actually did have a camera running but the footage is for private use. I don't want to invade anyone's privacy!

  • this is vegasfilms09. this my new account...just wondering if ur going to do anything new with your peek in this year for halloween?? -brian

  • Hey, Brian. I'm planning a repeat of last year. The neighborhood kids are already asking about it!

  • Nice memory you've created. I worked at knotts as a stuntman for about 3 years and have such fond memories that my home built in wyoming was directly inspired by ghost town structures, but I don't have a peek in . You have inspired me! Very cool and thanks so much.

  • wow thats really cool..wish i lived in ur nieghborhood haha i would love to see this!! :)

  • @dreaminggirlish It's on my patio!

  • Wow! I don't remember that one! Is it still there or is it new?
