well the new movie doesn't show much shanghai culture neither, the actors are speaking mandarin, wtf!! Shanghainese speak Sang Hei Ei Wu NOT fucking Putonghua...

Chow's Shanghaitan was filmed 25 years ago. It was an excellent drama at that time. But I don't think any young person at this time is interested in watching a show which was made 25 years ago. The only way to introduce this wonderful and touching story to them is to remake it.
I can't think of any actor who fits this leading role more than Huang Xiaoming. Huang Xiaoming is a promising young actor and I have faith in him.

Chow's Shanghaitan was filmed 25 years ago. It was an excellent drama at that time. But I don't think any young person at this time is interested in watching a show which was made 25 years ago. The only way to introduce this wonderful and touching story to them is to remake it.
