Die Entführung aus dem Serail (K. 384; The Abduction from the Seraglio; also known as Il Seraglio) is an opera Singspiel in three acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The German libretto is by Christoph Friedrich Bretzner with adaptations by Gottlieb Stephanie. The plot concerns the attempt of the hero Belmonte, assisted by his servant Pedrillo, to rescue his beloved Konstanze from the seraglio of the Pasha Selim

Omg, I love this song!! Best aria ever... -sighs- And I've never heard Reri Grist sing before, but I have to say, she does a great job here.

Thanks so much!! Lol, no I know the opera, and I love it! It's the only opera I've ever seen at the Met that I actually enjoyed, and I was hooked...(I'm usually stuck going to see Wagner or something, lol)

Anyways though, I sing, and I'm trying to learn this for a recital..and my college had the entire opera score, but I couldn't copy it and then my voice teacher never sent them to me...so I've been like dying trying to learn all the words just from listening to recordings. So thank you!!!!

Her voice is great for this part, but Karl Bohm in revanche is absolutely awful for Mozart

I love her voice, and this is one of my favorite arias from Mozart. But I have to say personally my favorite aria is Batter My Heart from John Adam's Dr. Atomic, my favorite performer of which is Gerald Finley

Ah the lovely Reri Grist....such a wonderful soubrette and in marvelous voice here as always. Die Entführung aus dem Serail really is a masterpiece...if it weren't for the tremendously challenging principal roles we'd probably have the pleasure of seeing this tremendous piece revived more often. Thanks so much for posting these clips...hopefully they will help more people discover Mozart's magnificent score.

Yes, it was terrible, 3 Wagner operas in a row, I wanted to die.... two were in the same month too... Idk why anyone would ever WANT to see Wagner, lol.

Anyways, I needed the German, but having the English so I don't have to mentally translate it while learning the words is great, so thanks for both! I speak German fluently, but eh, it's best to have both languages in front of me. YOU ARE A LIFESAVER. Thanks sooo much!! And I know all the notes, so just the words were enough, but thanks tho!
