EDIT 2: 11/28/2011 OH MAN I WAS COCKY WHEN I WROTE THE DESCRIPTION TO THIS HAHAHA.

You can also reflect Mad Milk, Liberty Launcher rockets, Direct Hit rockets, Cow Mangler lasers (and they crit on reflect, not minicrit), Rocket Jumper Rockets (do self damage), Detonator (but enemy pyro still has control over when it detonates), Loch n Load, Scottish Resistance, Sticky Jumper Stickies, Wrangled Sentry Rockets, and Crusader's Crossbow bolts (and they will heal teammates)

EDIT: Cool, I hit 1k views with this!

Projectiles is a side project of mine. As a guy who plays a monstrous amount of pyro, I have gotten the skill down to reflect every projectile in the game. At this point in writing, I can proudly say I have 17 huntsman reflectkills or so. I lost count.

Anyways, this guide covers the projectiles in which you can reflect as pyro. From the bread-and-butter rocket to the new and powerful huntsman, I take a look at the projectile, their damage, general useful range, and their usefulness. I don't cover how to do it, that's up to you to discover or learn by another tutorial. I just explain the overall potentials and damages, and some cool tricks with some that you probably already know, and perhaps don't know.

Don't pull the crit rocket bull on me about the huntsman comment though, Huntsman still generally has more damage potential.

And before you say anything, yes, I know I am horrible at jumping with the pyro.

  • what is the first song? shazam gives me a japanese/chinese/whatever name

  • @BrightBlackBanana I believe its by SHE. Not sure of the name right now.

  • Here's a tip, if you want to put it in your guide or whatever. But for when you're trying to reflect Huntsman (At least within medium range) the thing you need to listen for is the "twang" noise from the arrow being released. If you airblast when you hear that (As long as you the same distance between the balcony in 2fort and middle bridge) it will reflect it almost immediately. Longer ranges require more sight. Short ranges: luck.

  • @Jewbat Your way of describing it is very good, and I may include that in something I'm working on right now, except for that last part. If the huntsman sniper has no pattern to his shots, then yeah, it's gonna be luck. But people have a sense of patterns when they fire under most cases. If you know the pattern, you know when to reflect close range.

If you don't know the pattern, yeah its luck. But your way of describing it is very clear, much clearer than any way I try!

  • never got a reflect sticky before>.<

  • @J03L14 Just keep at it and you'll get one eventually. If you get better.

  • It means you aimed up.

Really, a reflect arrow kill is a good measure of either luck or timing, and not much more. But don't treat it like it's nothing. It's a good milestone to have. Milestones are awesome. I had one that I broke the other day. Get a reflect sticky kill in a scrim. Just make sure to keep getting better :P

  • @SuperAwesomeTiago Dude, watch any video on OMFGNinja's channel and you'll regret that. Spy does take skill, and I bet that you don't have nearly as much as he does.

  • medic's crossbow arrows are deflectable too, right?

  • Thanks dude, I had trouble trying to reflect rockets and other stuff.

  • So needles aren't projectiles?

  • @miley238ftw Old message, but still: practise with bots, use the blast a little earlier than you at first would like to (airblast's range is about the same as your flamethrower's). When reflecting, a common mistake is to keep your crosshair pointed at the rocket, as you should aim for your enemies.

  • Pyro takes skill. What skill does spy take? Skill to hide away from a battle like a coward?

  • I would like to meet someone who can outsmart bullets

  • @KenonArtulii If you're in range of a huntsman sniper, you might also wanna just blast him up so he can't fire at all.

  • I disagree with the Jarate, reflecting it is a great move, because it means a Sniper can't get his crits, and if there's a few Scouts around you might have a chance.

As for rockets, if you find you can't react in time, when you set a soldier on fire, his first move would be to run back firing. Rocket launchers only have a clip of 4, so watch the reloading animation and you know he's going to launch one back, unless he's an advanced soldier, and uses the shotgun.

  • Odd situation gets there whole entire team killed when a silly shoots a crit rocket and i airblast it
