This video is a recording of a panel on "Investing in Green Employment: Strategy behind green jobs initiatives," which took place at the 2011 UNEP FI Global Roundtable on sustainable finance in Washington D.C.

With 205 million people unemployed worldwide, and 1.5 billion more jobs vulnerable, countries across the globe are introducing measures for job-creation. Many of these initiatives highlight green jobs as a main prerogative in generating employment in order to build a strong, sustainable economic future. These initiatives need substantial investment and targeted strategies in order to be realized to their full potential and North America is looking to lead the way.

Speakers in the video are Jon Creyts, Principal of McKinsey & Company; Bracken Hendricks, Senior Fellow of the Center for American Progress; Jeff Rickert, Director of AFL-CIO Center for Green Jobs; Jonathan Rothwell, Senior Research Analyst of the Metropolitan Policy Program at The Brookings Institution; Jordan Schwartz, Lead Economist of the World Bank LAC. The moderator is Margarete Strand Ranges, Deputy Director of the BlueGreen Alliance.
