@HandmadeCars umm, my dad crashed his S60 few days ago and both airbags opened, even though it got it's hit to the drivers side (mostly) , but i must say it's very safe car.

@tobythesandwich There is a second dummy. I didn't seem at first, either.

Many many stupid asshole says: "where is the passenger airbag", and "no pass. airbag"... etc.
It was not activated due to the 60% offset of the crash. The bigger power went to the driver's side.

@SuperGotRocks more than likely the seat is equipped with a sensor which automatically turns on the passenger airbag when a certain weight is set on it. Seeing as there's no second dummy, that would probably be the case.

@remionfly it's not activated

MY 240 estate feels more like a tank! =)
Pre-Facelift S60s or those made during the first few years of production did not have a front passenger airbag as standard equipment, it was a no-cost option. Volvo feared people would use child seats in the front passenger seat which is strictly forbidden. In later years the passenger airbag became standard with a off-switch. EuroNCAP did not test the car with a front passenger airbag because it was not standard equipment, even though it was a no-cost option.
