  • "Things that ought to be can be"

  • Edward is awesome not just because he's caring, but he has foreseen that the best way to start changing the world is beginning with your own neighborhood.

That's what I noticed here in my country: to change a continental country like Brazil you gotta start with your community.

  • The park is nice, but a roller coaster would have been way cooler! Could you imagine?

  • Good job of making this happen. My wife and I came came to see the opening today. I am very impress.

    Clap, clap, clap.

  • By the way, this is an excellent project and it's won the battle.

  • What's with the narrator and the fake Northeast accent? I've lived and worked in MA, NY and Maine, and nobody says AAAFTAMAAATH for aftermath. NY is "Aftamath,".. Boston is "Aftimath", and Maine is "Aaaftamath? Shoudn't we find out what's bofower math ferst?

  • What's the song called that can be heard at 3:00?

  • The track belonged to CSX, who donated the property to the City of New York in 2005. CSX seemed to think it worthwhile to save this land for public use, else why sign it over?

New York is all buildings, few parks. Creating a new, large park above the streets *is* an interesting and innovative project. The city, not CSX, pays for the project.

No one wants it to go 'back to nature' - it's been doing that for years. Rather, this is a Rails-to-Trails project in a rather unusual location.

  • Why "wrest control of the structure from private interests"? It's not moral to steal. Did those private interests steal from you? Maybe, but maybe not. The less theft the better. As if a group of community 'activists' really knows what's best! Wow. What an "opportunity" to create "greenspace" (steal someone's property and let it go "back to nature"). This is coercive socialism. Far better if they just purchased the property, then who could care what they did with it?
