*update* Just so that your aware, the problem this video shows is no longer an issue. I'm currently running a built motor. I would've deleted this, but decided to keep it up for refference for those possibly dealing w/ the same issue.

couple months after replacing the shortblock with a brand new one, this sound reared it's ugly head last night. PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT IF YOU KNOW NOTHING ON THIS MATTER. I would appreciate any informed consent though as to what the problem may be. Thanks

  • thanks for the comments and help you guys. Just to keep it simple, I'm not entirely sure what it was that broke. I do know what the sound was from though. The piston had been thrown outta wack and was moving around freely in the cylinder and the heads were cracked all at spark plug whole. Improper A/F is the culprit. Currently having my engine rebuilt and tuned with new goodies added. Hoping for around 300whp on premium and then around 350-75whp on E-85.

  • I have a 05 WRX i just bought with 57k on it and it started that sound yesterday. Did you figure out what it was? I stopped driving mine till i can find out what it is any info would be great.

  • @yelzhan123 this is why you should use good oil thats 5w40 and check your oil once a week or even less..

  • is your turbo still spooling!? i had this very same sound, it was an exhaust leak :p

  • its A WRIST PIN,.. new pistion head but got to drop the crankshaft and all pistions to find the bad pin
