Bermuda is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. Located off the east coast of the United States, its nearest landmass is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, about 1,030 kilometres (640 mi) to the west-northwest. It is about 1,350 km (840 mi) south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and 1,770 km (1,100 mi) northeast of Miami, Florida. Its capital city is Hamilton.

Bermuda is the oldest and most populous remaining British overseas territory, settled by England a century before the Acts of Union created the Kingdom of Great Britain. Bermuda's first capital, St George's, was settled in 1612 and is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the Americas.

Bermuda has a very affluent economy, with finance as its largest sector followed by tourism, giving it the world's highest GDP per capita in 2005. It has a subtropical climate. ( source Wikipedia)

  • i am confused, instead of commenting the beauty of the island and lying about having a house there you jerks fuss about to whom the island belongs and other stupid nationalism driven issues here... i thought the internet generation is a bit more open minded than this. nationalism is the second source of all evil (after religious intolerance), you idiots are are great examples! stop ignorance, start tolerance!

  • I don't think so

  • Love Bermuda--I've been twice and each time the people were very nice and the scenery is gorgeous. Best way to describe it is Cape Cod meets the Caribbean.

  • Ah, I own this place

  • @Spaseebo It is a part of the commonwealth but it is in ways a part of the UK as we take care of all the British overseas territories & crown dependencies foreign policy and defense although these countries and territories need to be fully incorporated into the UK so they can have diplomatic & economic representation in parliament at the moment the government is slow to follow Australia, Denmark and France's lead its only holding these islands and the UK back though.

  • i m bermudian i find it kind of boring but i love the beaches and pools

  • Well I live in England and England is like a dump compared to Bermuda. I wish I was a Bermudan. I am jealous of them. England is hell!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's the difference between "Bermuda" and "Bermuda Triangle"!?

  • @franzkillergreens41 why? would it make any diferance if it was american?

  • Bermuda is NOT "legally and politically part of the UK" as one person states. The UK (United Kingdom) comprises Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) and Northern Ireland. This may easily be verified by referring to any reputable source including Bermuda's MPs.

Bermuda is indeed a British Overseas Territory, but it is NOT part of the UK. It is part of the Commonwealth.
