Tomás Luis de Victoria
(Ávila, 1548 / Madrid, 1611)

Tenebrae factae sunt,
dum crucifixissent Iesum Iudaei:
et circa horam nonam exclamavit Iesus voce magna:
Deus meus, ut quid me dereliquisti?
Et inclinato capite, emisit spiritum.
Exclamans Iesus voce magna, ait:
Pater, in manus tuas commendo spiritum meum.
Et, inclinato capite, emisit spiritum.

Se hizo la oscuridad
cuando los judíos crucificaron a Jesús,
y hacia la hora novena Jesús exclamó en voz alta:
Dios Mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado?
E inclinando la cabeza, exhaló su espíritu.
Exclamando en voz alta, Jesús dijo:
"Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu."
E inclinando la cabeza, exhaló su espíritu.

Darkness fell while the Jews were crucifying Jesus,
and at about the ninth hour Jesus
called out in a loud voice:
My Lord, why hast Thou deserted me?
Then he inclined his head and his soul
departed from his body.
Jesus called out in a loud voice:
Father, I commend my spirit into Thy hands.
Then he inclined his head.

  • Impresionante!!!!

  • The parts are shuffled around. I think the Tallis Scholars are doing this SAABar rather than TTBarB.

  • @Taenyr ... if you analize the sheet in a sol minor mode, like we can see the sheet....you need to start in bass with re/sol (a descendent fifth) not a fa/sol (see the imitation).

Now...the real sound is Ut-Fa...so we need to see a fa minor mode who had to begin in bass with ut like you sad.

  • @teodorsoporan You mean "Do" or "Ut".

  • ...this piece definitely doesn't start on an F natural - it starts on a C, and goes down to F (not G). This score also doesn't seem to have any of the (obviously present) upper voices...

  • la primera nota del bajo es Re y no Fa.

  • Preciosa... :)
