The reason why the world doesnt war with Iran isnt because of some particular desire against American occupation. Its because any attack on Iran will be met with strong retaliation with their proxy forces Hezbollah, Hamas, etc

countries should just mind their own fucking business - meddlesome cunts

@Yeahcoolwhatever I am opposed to extremism in all it's forms but Islam is not extremist, people who subvert it are the problem. What you just said about the Quran can easily be applied to the bible too. Especially the old testament

so true, thumbs up!

if it can get them elected they will say whatever it takes, voicing opposition to yet another illegal invasion of foreign countries is a great campaign basis, considering that the majority do not support terrorizing abroad. However the dem. and rep. parties are run by the same regime so it does not matter, nothing will change. Americas hope may lie in some day forming a democratic government.

@asphyxiafeeling The goal is of course that all nations disarm eventually and I think they will if the US took the first step. Russia at one point offered to disarm without expecting the US to do the same, but said that the US should too if they wanted peace on earth. The US didn't even reply and increased their WMD arsenal instead which I think lead to Russia not disarming either. Even without US nukes there would still not be any enemies strong enough to dare challenge NATO in a war.
-
I fail to understand your logic on WMD. please explain. my understanding is you think one way for the United States to create a peaceful world would be to disarm all of their Nuclear Weapons. I am asking WHY that would ever be in the interests of the United States OR it's allies when rival nations are still armed to the teeth. If we disarm, any nation that is still armed will rise to take advantage of the situation! Russia currently has more armed warheads then the US!
-
@asphyxiafeeling It's getting obvious that I'm not going to be able to persuade you about the WMDs. The situation in Palestine however would be much easier to, if not solve then at least greatly improve, by not giving Israel UNCONDITIONAL support. They've taken A LOT more than their share already. They might not be willing to give up Jerusalem but with a little bit of persuasion from their main ally they would likely stop the occupation which violates both human rights, UN law, and war laws.

i have always been anti-war (except in the case of 9/11), but: disarming our nuclear weapons? worst idea EVER unless we can get every other nuclear-armed nation to disarm @ the same time. && the middle east crisis with palestine / israel is too complicated to be resolved that easily. I wish it was easy, but we've been @ it for over 50 years with little progress thus far. Both palestinians & israelis believe that jerusalem is THEIRS, and will stop @ nothing to claim it!
LOL! There was no democracy in Iran during the Shah. The brief period of democracy was under Mossadeq. The Shah permanently abolished the parliament and created an autocratic government. Chomsky does not endorse Islamic theocracy but is against the US puppet tyrant Peliva and the thought of invading Iran, killing innocent people, and establishing a US occupation of the nation.
