Barry Hilbert shows off his 1959 T-Bird "Square Bird" to Lance Lambert, host of television's "Vintage Vehicle Show". Why did Ford turn the small "Little Bird" into a much larger four passenger car? How come these cars have no frames and why where they such a favorite of demolition derby drivers? More information about the "Vintage Vehicle Show" can be found by visiting www.vintagevehicletv.com
the '59 T-Bird is my all-time favorite car. the styling for these 50+ year old cars is still sleeker and more modern than anything produced today.

cool video ~ very informative
had to laugh when he said the two girls didn't dig the old car - I guess many in today's generation just don't appreciate the class of the old style cars -- but perhaps they'll learn some day :)

In 1960 Ford turned out 2536 Golde Top (Sunroof cars) of which only 377 were fitted with the J code Lincoln Engine, I owned one once..MAN WHAT A RIDE!
Sunroof did not come back till around 10 years later, one cool thing about the 60 soft top was the fact the rear deck lid was fully automatic, the driver never left there seat to put the top up or down, The Squarebird a true milestone car.

They had a print ad in 1959 that shows a red 59 convertible in front of a mansion with a mini version of the 59 Tbird called a Thunderbird Junior that was a powered promotional car used by dealers to attract customers. I have the factory original molds that made the Thunderbird JR fiberglass body and can make replacement original bodies along with most of the other parts. Check my videos to learn more about JR cars from the Powercar company of Mystic CT
