UCSI (Part A).................(This video is for school assignment).............Avoidant Personality Disorder Avoidant personality disorder (APD or AvPD)or Anxious personality disorder (APD) is a personality disorder from the DSM handbook, characterized by a pervasive pattern of social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy, extreme sensitivity to negative evaluation and avoidance of social interaction. People with avoidant personality disorder often consider themselves to be socially inept or personally unappealing, and avoid social interaction for fear of being ridiculed, humiliated, rejected or disliked. They typically present themselves as loners and report feeling a sense of alienation from society.
Avoidant personality disorder is usually first noticed in early adulthood, and is associated with perceived or actual rejection by parents or peers during childhood. Whether the feeling of rejection is due to the extreme interpersonal monitoring attributed to people with the disorder is still disputed.

  • I love this. I can't I've never met them before. I need to go back to the library for a little while. That's what I would do. :) I loved the irrational thinking when she was thinking about her interview. This was really well done. Good acting.

  • Thanks ^^

  • Good job, is this like a home project or something?

  • Yup, this is school project from abnormal psychology class, if you are interested... there are still a lot more UCSI psychology movie from other groups which better than this one....

  • Thanks for uploading this video. I have had issues with avoidance in the past and am gradually learning to become less avoidant.

Billytbsiang, is it possible you could add annotations that would serve as captioning? I hope it's not too much work.

  • Yup, I already added the annotations. Thanks (^.^)

  • As well AvPDs tend to overanalyze a conversion, watching both theirs and the others speech, body langauge, EVERYTHING so much so that they hardly have any more brain processing left to speak fluently, so that when they do speak its hesitant, muted and slurred.

I have AvPD so I know

  • That's not true. People with SP/SA do have a desire for friendships etc just the same as those with AVPD.

  • I just want to know what's causing mine? I never can find the answer....

  • @calladuz But the worst part is that you KNOW that the constant over-analyzing is stupid! You're aware of this, yet you can't stop it! I have it as well, and it SUCKED in high school. haha

  • @calladuz

Your comment nailed it for me. i always thought that i was "allergic" to strangers; because i would experience very sudden and strong feelings of fatigue, discomfort, confusion -- to the point where i could not speak or think or act! And i knew that i must have appeared to have been a dullard to the others.

i was crushed thousands of times by this "allergic" reaction without understanding the cause. That reaction is the worst part, and if others don't know about it they are lucky.

  • how do u no for sure if u have it cause i think i might i think negative ALL the time. and the other stuff that was on there to. is there any way of being sure?

  • Well done! My one complaint is the subtitles are too small and nearly impossible to read on Youtube

  • I like to ask the MANY people who commented on this vid, what things have you found to be of success? Why say ' oh i have avpd and it destroyed' yet not elaborate further. Since there's SOOO few of us sufferers why not contribute on what can help

  • I can still remember the old high school years when I had anxiety attacks and bouts of depression without knowing I had social phobia / AvPD and clinical depression in the first place. It felt like being in hell and not knowing it.

  • To grab this mp3 just go to audioripit doht cohm.

  • @calladuz same here!!!! i thought i was the only one!!! im so caught up seeing if people are lying to me that if they ask me something related i always say "... wait what?" and forget what we were talking about or i would slur all of my words then i would just end up get made fun of when they walk away...

  • shit.... ADP is hell...
