Family Fun
No one could take the trip with me, so far from home;
so I ignored good advice and did it alone. Upon arrival, I was proud of what I'd done;
then the girls flew in, for some serious fun.
The weather was perfect, never hoped for so much;
what joy it is, to be so out of touch. The girls had a blast, and Daddy did too;
under flawless skies, in the turquoise blue. Endless shoreline, and pink beaches to explore;
the only shame is we couldn't do more.
Katelyn never slowed down, despite being ill;
three cheers! Three cheers! for my brave daffodil.
And my heart swelled, as I watched Ashley dive on coral heads, deep below;
Look at her, just seven, doing it all like a pro.
We hunted marlin by day, and swam till dark back on shore;
we played and played till we could take it no more.
So to my friends, I plead, come with us next year;
pitch in on gas, I'll buy the beer. Just think of the memories, the sunsets, the smiles;
because next year... I just might do....2000 miles!
