Eddie Van Halen plays Hendrix

This is pretty cool, but I think Eddie was kinda cheesy in the early 90's. Every lick he does here he pulls the same little half harmonic bendy at the end.. it's so boring compared to the way he used to rip the fuck out of his homemade Strat until it sounded like it was dying. In his Music Man years Eddie sounded more like he was enjoying how pretty the Music Man sounded instead of trying to draw blood from his piece of junk Strat.

@bobechops Before the solo starts, the singer (Stev Lukather?) says: c'mon Eddie! Who do you think he's talking to? Eddie Murphy? :P

@ect5150 This is Steve Lukather singing.

@jhop5150 Yeah, you can tell he just wasn't as ballsy in the early 90's. His giutar sounded weak but I think improved in the late 90's, ex: The "Balance" album and the new songs on "Best of" vol I & II and the new album also sounds powerfull.

cool love hearing jimi tributes

Eddie Van Halen is awesome, very good.. Jimi is way better though.. Jimi is really good just on the surface but the deeper you go into his music the better he is. Jimi died after like 3 or 4 years makin it with the experience and band of gypsys n stuff.. he didn't even get a chance to show what else he can do. Eddie does certain things and thats mainly where e stays but hes better at what he does then anybody else

Anyone who can't tell this is Eddie's playing should trade in their VH records for Bieber and Gaga. Yes the tone is different, but he may not have had the opportunity to use his own gear at the show, it's a very generic Marshall sound, he probably plugged into whatever was available.

Try searching for the items listed in the description ("Jeff Porcaro Tribute Concert") and you'll see that Eddie played more than one track with Toto that night among other stars that joined in. Listen to the other tracks and you'll hear them introduce him as well... like it or not, it's Eddie Van Halen.
