a pity the BBC has gone back to partial coverage
-
when F1 was F1, not the parade it has become.

@tobiasf1 It was barely above 40F. I was there standing on a ridge with the St Lawrence at my back - with a steady wind, and being a little underdressed it felt MUCH colder. At one point during the race I did see snowflakes!

murray walker you legend.

any idea how "bitterly cold" it was?

@EricIrl Your comment reminds me of a time when the BBC on their 'Grandstand' programme during the summer months use to show the start and first number of laps of the races and then switch over to Egbaston or elsewhere for the cricket only to return for the final few laps. How things have changed.

is that snow at 1.37?!

BBC started their programme "Grand Prix" in 1978. Previously they had shown selected GPs, sometimes live - but not the whole season. It was decided that they would cover the entire sseason in highlight form for the 1978 season again with some selected races shown live. I think it was not until 1996 that EVERY race was shown live.
