BJ Zacharias, a pro racer, ran 5 laps in our car at Oregon Raceway Park. this is the 5th lap and his second ever time in a dp4 (he ran 5 laps last year, in rain and cold). His time is almost a second faster than current DSR record at the track and only 6 sec off overall record held by a Formula Atlantic. Really illustrates the difference between a pro and an amateur like myself (i'm full 10 seconds slower despite lots more seat time). Also shows that it isn't a car one would 'outgrow' :) Yes that's a GT3 with lots of modifications mid-clip.

  • that looks like a rubens barrichello helmet

  • Great vid, nice to see it get pushed a little closer to its edge. Absolutely amazing car, I dream of making it something on the same level of awesomeness as this.

  • @MPalatov I would love to see it, good luck with your car. I hope to see it whipping the ring someday, I will watch for it :)

  • @MPalatov also we've found that comparisons to other cars in rfactor like radicals, elise, corvette, caterham and others are pretty accurate.

  • @redhot916spd we have the dp4 in the rfactor simulator (just google it) and you can download and test the various configurations on the nurburgring yourself :) for example in DSR trim it gets about 6:40 BTG (7:10 full tourist lap). with a turbo hayabusa and AWD it's around 6:00 BTG (6:25 full tourist lap). all driver dependent but on tracks where we have driven the car both in real world and in the sim, for same driver the lap times correlate within a couple seconds.

  • @MPalatov sounds sweet I have a zx-14 myself and was just tire kicking, do you have any idea how one of these would do at the nurburgring? I have seen similiar cars in the mid 6 minute range

  • Holy. Shit. This thing handles like it's on rails.

  • @redhot916spd the bmw airbox with the variable trumpets is too tall to fit under the bodywork. some form of a solution could probably be worked out if someone REALLY wanted to buy a dp4 with that motor, but a mildly tweaked gsxr1000 would have about the same real world performance for most people. it really takes a pro driver to use even what the base car has to offer. but if a customer comes cash in hand insisting on a bmw, we'll make it work.
