This is the story of the Southern Pacific Steam Engine #2472, which was completely restored by a dedicated group of volunteers from the Golden Gate Railroad Museum in Niles Canyon, California. In conjunction with the GGRM, Journey Films dedicated their video production resources and services pro-bono to produce a one-hour documentary that is not just filled with the typical train run-bys, but so much more. This wonderful moving and exciting story recounts the life of this beautiful Iron Horse, and how she escaped from a life of rusting away in a park. Youll hear first-hand accounts from the men who made their living riding the rails with her, and learn from the people who restored her why this is not just another train video, but a labor of love meant to be passed on to future generations of train lovers. Shot in High Definition, and from every angle on the 2472s Inaugural Run and more, this exciting train DVD gives you the ride of a lifetime!

  • Due to the future rise in gas prices, and the expense of driving, and servicing cars, along with the high price of airline tickets, transportation has a high chance of going back to trains.

  • @ThomasRivette heh thanks lexdisia ;-)

  • I'm glad to see this locomotive up and fireing. I was first introduced to 2472 through a Goodheart production of OHRF's 4449. I loved seeing the two premeer passenger engines of the SP Pound the rails together... there's something magical about a 4-6-2 and 4-8-4 running a double header. Glad to see she's still running.

  • This makes for a perfect GGRM public outreach video or promotional video.

  • It is fantastic to know that there are people out there who want to restore steam engines. i would glady contribute to any organization that does such things
