A foot drop treatment, the STIMuSTEP system helps correct drop foot in people who have suffered a stroke (CVA) or have multiple sclerosis (MS). This video is of an operation in progress and clearly shows dorsiflextion and eversion of the foot, this movement is caused by the implant.

STIMuSTEP corrects the abnormal movement of the affected foot during the swing phase of gait.

for more information on the STIMuSTEP system please vist http://www.finetech-medical.co.uk or http://www.finetech-medical.co.uk/dropped-foot-system/stimustep.aspx?language...

  • I am set to have this surgery.. will I be able to run again one day? I am 17 and it's due a huge knee injury were all my ligaments were blown away. Called a complete luxation in french, not sure bout the english term. Anyways I'm set to have tendon transfer, will I be able to be active and run someday? I know I'll never be 100% but tell me if it's possible, and how the patient is doing now? Walking without AFO isn't enough for me..

The question on whether you'll be able to run again is a question you will need to takeup with your clinician. All patients are doing very well with an increased walking speed and stability.

  • Im not yet sure,I broke my foot 3 weeks ago, and now my foot and leg is tingly, I can still move my toes, but I can not spread them like I can my left foot, and their twitchy. Around the point where he was being worked on, it's around where my leg stops tingling, I decided to try to 'massage' this area, and I was able to lift my foot up, rather then it hanging down.... I didn't get my foot up as high as it use to go, but I got it to at least flat level for walking.

Dropped foot is usually associated with neurological conditions such as stroke and multiple sclerosis. In your case allow your foot to heal and if your symptoms persist, discuss possible treatments with your physician.

  • Intresting surgery, how is the patient now? walking without AFO? need a follow-up

  • The patient is fine and does not need an AFO. Take a look at our channel page at the other STIMuSTEP Video, this shows a patient of ours walking before and after the implant.

Follow up assessments are reccommended, usually these take place at least once a year.

Surgery went fine. Recovered fine after 1-2 months. Bad thing is that it didn't change anything and now i'm paralyzed for life. I had to try it though, so I do not regret anything.
