Recorded when Boeing had started manufacturing the 747-400.
There are some great "inflight" shots as a film crew fly around the 747-400 for a PR campaign.
Shows the brand new jet being tested by BA test pilot and final delivery to British Airways.
An early BBC documentary.

First generation recording, brand new tape, SVHS not VHS - to try and keep quality as high as possible.
Recorded when first broadcast.
Thanks for looking.

  • @GEORGEBUSHISAKUNT awesomeee!!!!

  • Sadly the threat of military escalation isn't receding because the US government always looks for ways to maintain conflicts throughout the world (read Emmanuel Todd).

  • My guess is that this documentary is at least 10 yrs old. What this clip doesn't mention is the competitive challenges that are now posed by the Gulf based carriers. BA, LH and AF-KL have to reckon with the US megacarriers, the Gulf airlines and the LCCs on their home turf. Good luck guys because you're going to need it.

  • Haha, the days before oneworld Alliance

  • I remember this series so well. I've got all 4 episodes on VHS stll
