I would like to purchase all 3 of these tools but I do not see the "preparation tool" in your catalog.
@texasbagpiper You may need to press a bit harder but should have a cleaner result than with softer woods.
@Aharndts Below center you will have less control of the tool and the tool may tend to bounce giving a less than satisfactory result.

how well does this work with more dense woods such as Lignum Vitae, African Blackwood, Mopane, etc.

The "preparation tool" Nick uses is actually the Coving Tool, part number 088-2152.

I notice most cuts are made above center, what happens if the tool is bellow center. Please don't say, I would have to purchase one to find out ;)

@Aharndts When you turn below center, the "spiral" pattern will change in shape and direction. It also happens when you turn above center.

Since the Elf cuts the decorative pattern, it works extremely well on hard woods.
