I first met Nigel Olsson in 1978 when he was living in Atlanta and he worked with me on a promotion for WBSR, the radio station I was working for at the time. He had a good run as a solo artist in the late '70s, scoring a Top 10 hit with "Dancing Shoes', in addition to his regular gig as the drummer for Elton John. He had several other singles which also hit the charts. This 1980 tune, from the LP "Changing Tides", has always been a favorite of mine, even though it got very little airplay, if for no other reason than the very irreverant count off by Nigel on the beginning of the song. JimsRadioMusic gives me the opportunity to bring back good tunes which I feel deserve another listen and "Saturday Night" is one of them. I hope you enjoy the tune and the video.
Wish I could meet Nigel Olsson! Great video!
