This is a video produced by the US Navy about Diego Garcia. Diego Garcia is a small coral atoll in the Chagos Archipelago in the UK owned British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT); it is a joint US/UK military facility. While this video shows Diego Garcia as a friendly place where the contractors and military personnel get along, the bar is stocked, the food plenty, and the "fun in the sun" activities are various, Diego Garcia has another side. From the late 60's to early 70's, the British government expelled the Chagossians, the native people of Diego Garcia, in order to make room for the navy facility. Three times in six years, UK courts have told the British government to find a way to let the Chagossians go home. As of this writing, nothing has been done. To learn more about the Chagossians and their cause, go to http://www.chagossupport.org.uk/. To learn about the base, go to http://www.dg.navy.mil/web/index_2006.htm (the video is there as well).

  • right humanites?

    Tell that to the chagossians.......

  • What happened to the Chagossians brings me shame to call myself British

  • To say that the people were shipped in to supply labour means they don't belong there is crap. If you follow that arguement then all the nations in the Caribbean should have forced excile, as they were populated by people shipped in from Africa. ie slaves.

Give the Chagos Islanders there home back. The yanks could even employ them on their military base instead of bringing in Philipinos...most of the people lived on other islands miles away from the base.

  • @caiomherigpa coolstorybro

  • I came here to learn about the disposed Chagossians I read in Island of Shame: The Secret History of the U.S. Military Base on Diego Garcia

  • yeah right, watch "stealing a nation". the uk said that deigo garcia was a hazard to live on with its water levels, they built 2 gigantic expensive runways on it. when they forcefully removed the people who used to live on diego garcia they said it was "too expensive" to give it them back, when actually the goverment spends a total of 1.5 trillion every year. the island was peaceful and the only thing they bought were clothes and the uk and us just spoil it.

  • @Americcan

Tell your govt to pay up it's trillions of debt and stop starting wars all over the world in the name of Western civilization (aka white supremacy), or else you will be begging China for food in a couple of hundred years.

  • @forevah

I'm so happy for you. It's amazing what you can do with a huge handout of cash. In a couple of hundred years, you might even catch up.

  • @Americcan

Zim produces Tobacco as its main export not food.

Look up this title in the BBC website ("Zimbabwe land reform 'not a failure')

Zimbabwe's economy is successfully rebounding and the shelves are full again. Thanks to the native African farmers and China (your future enemy that you owe a lot of money).

Why don't you tell us why the Europeans invaded Zimbabwe and established the "Natives Reserves Order and the "Land Apportionment Act of 1930". You Europeans are all thieves.
