@natsnovak no when trying to transport a critically injured person that's on a stretcher. there is a huge ditch between the field and the ems. they try not to move severly injured people around any more then they have to. this was just a honest mistake by the pilot. no one is perfect.

The bottom line on telephone pole is called the "service strand" It's just a steel cable with no electrical current, it is used to attach phone and TV cable too. The top lines on the poles are the electrical lines. The pilot made the error of not checking his 6 oclock position before attempting to gain altitude, he should have rotated left then proceed up & out.

@Patriot042 I'm a former cop, and a helicopter pilot. Doughnut? Really? Easy my friend! The police usually set up scene security for a helicopter, but rarely decide the landing spot, although it can be different for each jurisdiction.  Ultimately the pilot is responsible for his or her ship no matter what. The pilot could have overridden the recommended landing spot and chosen the field. But any smart pilot with their head in the game could have managed this spot better.

@BoredomKills25 Agreed. There is another version of this video with similar comments thinking it was a dumb place to land. It wasn't dumb, just dumb that the pilot didn't adjust for the conditions. A smart pilot with his head in the game could have managed this landing spot.
