This is like a MEA of the Alkaline Fuel Cell with Solid Polymer Membrane (Anionic Membrane).

All materials used in this test are simple materials and largely available in the market.
I did not pay for any patent or purchase commercial membranes or catalysts.

Your resistance is hight, and doe's work in practical applications.

It's just for demonstration of the effect.

    Hi, I can make a video showing the "how to make" in the future.

    I have another cell, more powerfull than I show in this video.

    It's a semi-fuel cell, or metal-air battery. I use the correct laboratory materials to construct it. I want use it in my RC helicopter, for prolong the fly.

    The ion-lithium batteries are very powerfull, but are more expensive.

    Metal-air battery have some problems, but are more cheapest than ion-lithium, and last longer.

  • I wanna see it in reverse. Put plates on either side, immserse in distilled water, and apply electricity (3.5V - 4.5V or so). I wonder how much hydrogen that size membrane electode assembly can produce....

  • @LiquidChem Yes, the output voltage is weak, like 0,1mA. The membrane in this cell is not efficient. Many losses and the catalyst is poor. But this cell is very old. My new cell can output more than 50mA cm2. I synthesize a new membrane using high chemicals expertise, like nafion. The vulcan XC-72 is the optimal catalyst for this purpose, and the assembly is different. The process is not complicated, just need to be precise and follow all steps with careful.I hope post my new cell in the future!

  • showing just the voltage is meaningless! I can get more than a volt from water with no chemicals, WHAT was the current output?
