This is a video I helped put together way back in 1987 while temporarily working in the instructional development section of the 64th FTS at Reese AFB. It was the early days of my Air Force career, serving alongside a bunch of other 1st and 2nd lieutenants. As young pilots we wanted to show everyone what a cool job we had. I believe this video eventually wound up being shown at our UPT graduation ceremonies. Hard to believe that they let us 24 year olds go out and play with these awesome machines!

  • Thanks for posting this....I always loved the T-38 planform. You guys are a fortunate bunch. Hate to hear about the bases being neglected....I used to spend time hanging around Homestead in the 70's.

  • Hi there.

I absolutely love your film. Big fan of the T38 too. Can you tell me what the music is please.

    Kind regards.

  • t-38 is one awesome looking little jet...

  • I have this video that I transcoded from VHS. It's on a DVD. I recently sent a copy of to another guy by making it a link to a file downloading site. It would be higher quality than the youtube video, but not a whole lot better. The original music was stripped off by youtube. The T-38 segment in the original is set to John is set to John Denver's musical version of "High Flight". Be glad to try to hook you with the video file if you'd like.

  • Dennis,

I was in 67h in Del Rio. I also made a movie and have had it converted to DVD. It is not very sharp. 8MM and super 8. I'm making a DVD to share with those from my class that are still alive. Do you have a higher definition version that you could share? I'm also looking for a higher definition of high flight with the t-38.

By the way we had one fellow that ran all the way up and all the way down during para-sailing.

  • Ziggy! Yeah, I knew him. He soloed me in the T-37. I was in Eagle flight and he was guest help out of the STURON. I had a lot of continuity with him, so he soloed me. Great guy! Don't suppose you know what he's doing now?

As for Bruce, I have not met him, but I just looked him up and it shows he is still here. He is a 727 FO, and a pretty senior one from the looks of his employee number. It looks like we were both hired in '95 and he is just enjoying seniority in the Boeing.

  • No sorry those names don't ring a bell. I was in FCF by the time you were all on the line so my chance of meeting them were slim. My classmate Rob Zeigler, "Ziggy", was in the 35th until about Aug 1985.

You mentioned you fly for FedEx. Do you know Bruce Briney? We flew together in the Guard up in Peoria.

  • Yep. I was a Tweet FAIP from '85 to '88. Had a great time Lubbock. I guess we were their together, but I don't remember your name. A couple of my classmates were T-38 IPs. Did you know Tony Warner or Randy Shay?

  • Great memories for me, too. Like everyone else who was based at Reese, I think it is a shame to see what has become of the base. I was there from late 78 to May '83 - a D Flight T-37 IP. Thanks for posting the video. Are Copies available?

  • Dale "Barney" Ende here. I was in 82-01. You come back as a FAIP? Who were your IPs? I was an IP in H flight when I came back from PIT.
