Overview The Girl in the Moon
This song was written during a time when I was feeling particularly far from my family. Living on opposite sides of the country can be very challenging. At times I feel like Im on the outside looking in. I was inspired to write this after coming across a painting. Eventually, the meaning of the song evolved. As I searched for the second verse it became more about the idea of a girl who is worshipped from afar but who has no real friends—she pushes everyone away. She is the moon—adored by all the world, but keeps herself distant. All the stars look on waiting for the day when she will choose to no longer be lonely.
