I feel from the few Fleming Bond books I've read that Dalton is much closer to the Bond of the Novels and in many ways I like him more than even Brosnan.
But maybe that was because Dalton was more like the dour Bond of the books, Brosnan probably had the best overall mix of humour, charm and cool.
That's not counting Connery, he's just in a different league.

If only they'd put the script of OHMSS on ice, taken out the sillier elements, then made it as Dalton's 80's debut. How awesome could that have been?

If Tim would have done a few more Bond films, he would have probably been considered one of the best Bonds. Even though he only did two films, he is one of my favorites. Sean and Tim are the tops.

Just wanted to thank you for all your time and
effort in putting all the Bond trivia together.
I have been a bond fan since I was a kid in the 60's
watching the then current releases in the theaters
playing with my Gold finger Corgi toy and toting
my 007 lunch box to school.
PS, I also found that great Bond CD you use on the sound tracks.

@tdelamont - Yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Brosnan was essentially miscast. Although he understood Bond well enough, the results were "manufactured", as if he was working outside his natural scope. Timothy Dalton was my personal choice for Bond for a number of years before he was actually cast in the role. It frustrates me that he did not have better writing and a better director to support him. The fact that he had to follow Moore's blatant distortion of the character didn't help.

"People without an accent?"
The hell does that mean? As the owner of a degree in lingusitics, that statement make me slightly sick. You mean they offered it to mute people?
I'm nitpicking, I do love your reviews. Its just that expression really irritates me. And I really hope you don't think of American as being the 'default' English Language accent.
Ahhh..... sorry man. Keep up the good work.

HaphazardStuff, you seem rather dismissive of Flash Gordon. It's a fantastic film, Dalton was especially great as Prince Barin, I suggest you look at it again. The actor playing Flash was terrible though.
As for Brosnan, he was so DESPERATE to be Bond it was embarrassing.

@miapatagonia She sure knew how to pick 'em!

@jksonny Who says? Were you there?
-
@ZombieMan04 100% correct.

@pacemoy According to the New York Times obituary on Cubby Boccoli, Dana Boccoli also had a hand in the selection of Connery as Bond. She supposedly saw Connery on TV and said "He's gorgeous, pick THAT ONE!"
good vid man, may i ask how do u hav such an intense knoweldge of what happen so many years ago regarding bond history?

I've always seemed to retain useless trivia and stories. Being a Bond fan, I gradually pick things up through the years. Either thru books, documentaries, interviews, wherever. I never thought any of it would be beneficial or I would use it in any way, until I started this review series. :o)
My memory can be faulty, so I'm not trying to pass all this off as a flawless history of Bond and hope if I'm wrong about anything for someone to correct it, which some viewers have in a few instances.

As I was at that premiere in London Dalton was def there...dont believe all u read

I meant Brosnan didn't attend the premiere nor ever watched the film. From what I've read Dalton had a very good relationship with the Broccoli's, so I wouldn't doubt he was there.
