Great, more video please! I'd love to watch the entire engine go by.
I am having difficulty finding this train's route on a Portland map. I am curious why I can hear the whistle from our home near SE 82nd and Madison St., between Stark and Division. Could it really carry all the way from Oak's Bottom?

This run was down in Oak's Bottom. I think the locomotive normally resides in the old SP roundhouse at the UPRR's Brooklyn Yard. Not sure what you're hearing up along 82nd and Madison.

jelakejr - The video is nice. I wish you'd kept filming to watch it leave, though. The old engines were built to fly, they look amazing when moving. :) Ignore the pest; he's the one that needs glasses, seeing as mine are up to date and perfect.

This was taken on a point-and-shoot digital camera, and the darned thing timed out on me.
