I'm tired of hearing politicians, newscasters and people in general call the United States of America a Democracy. This country has always been a Republic. When (if) you say the Pledge of Allegiance, do you say, "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America; and to the Democracy for which it stands, one Nation, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."? No, you don't. You say Republic. You'll also notice that I removed "under God" because if you think this country is a Democracy, you also want God out of the picture.
Sorry about the link being unreadable in the video. Here 'tis. ;)

@gulbirk And I don;t understand what you mean by saying the police and military won't exist anywhere other than a democracy. In our REPUBLIC, it seems to be working fine. The only suggestion I would make is to only allow voting to high school graduates, so the voters have some sense of government, not just "This guy's gonna make MY life better". And I agree, there will always be someone in power. That's why we need to get the fuck up and stop being lazy so we can vote for the best representative

@gulbirk I never said things were better before a democracy. France went from a bad social order to a less worse democracy, which would have worked for them. However in America, it's like people have no incentive to learn or educate themselves. Therefore our decisions would be based on the desires of stupid people. We are not, nor have we ever been a democracy. A democracy, contrary to popular belief, does not make us freer. We have to conform to the "good" of society.

@TheHDGreenScreenMan Yeah, things were much better before democracy, when we had one elitist class (probably 2-3%) ruling over everyone else.
There will always be someone in power. If you remove democracy, someone else institutes themselfes on society and simply takes power. Who will stop them? Police (who wont exist), The military (who wont exist), etc.
I think we all see that the choice is democracy or fascism.

It annoys the heck out of me when "educated" people call America a democracy. I personally believe that a democracy is the worst form of government ever, and it is way too radical. Like Jean Rousseau who believed that people must be forced to be free and to be forced to conform to the "common good". However, this idea has been sneaking into society for a long time, the Church in the 15th-17th centuries, and censors today who feel that knowledge is dangerous.

many of you guys are wrong, i think no one would like to live in a democracy....read this lexrex com / enlightened / AmericanIdeal / aspects /demrep html
it gives you a clear definition and diference between the both. And might i remind you that if no one was to vote "just and example" there will still be electiones and canidates will still get elected.....the founding fathers of this nation knew that all type of democracy fails, thats why we are a republic,

Dude, I think you misunderstand what a democracy is; democracy is "government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system." A republic IS a form of democracy, with elected individuals representing the people. Get your shit straight
