More than half a century ago, 51 years to be precise, 1958 film of the Kirov Ballet performing Les Sylphides, known in Russia as Chopiniana since the music of Chopin is used in this ballet.**

If anyone wants the name of every girl in the corps de ballet, i will try my best to add every girl's name to my description. If anyone asks me to do that, my chances of getting one name correct is about as likely as an American that does not know one word of Russian, to suddenly speak fluent Russian within minutes.***
I may not know the name of any of the corps de ballet girls, but I feel very confident in saying that every girl in thsi film was a student of the Vaganova school, while Agrippina Vaganova was at the school. Vaganova died on November 5, 1951 and even a first year company member in late 1958 would have been at least a second year student when Vaganova died.

I really love the way dacers' phsycs differs from these days. they are more feminine with ample curves, as if from some tableau of the romatic era.

Continuation Most of today's ballerinas are so skinny that they have lost most of these curves and do not look like women, but girls approaching puberty. I hope so, but there is a sickness in theatres that skeletons are desired by management. Yulia is already under that pressure. Please resist bravely.

Completely agree! Yulia is thin anyway - OK, she has more curves (i.e., boobs) than some other dancers and beautiful curvy legs, but she is THIN. Most other ballerinas are not thin - they are skeletal. It's time ballet management realized that this is not what the public wants to see.

Now we can clearly see what ballet we lost with the distruction of the USSR. No modern stars will save it. It is becoming commercial which is fatal for Russian classical ballet. And here we are witnessing The Tsardom Of Spirit.

the guy in the final dance pisses me off. he looks like he half does it. and its like looking at a man taking something (he deems fem) and tried to butch it up....iit just aggrivates me. just suck it up and dance the dance like the girls are. (i mean your donig ballet, so you shouldnt be worried about oh do i look feminem?)
