  • I love how Jeno Jando plays Beethoven. (when he was younger ofcourse/BLAH!!!)

  • MrOCDhelpmee,

    I like his Beethoven too!

  • Did you know Jeno Jando came to my piano school and gave a masterclass. He is amazing! He can sight read any piece perfectly even if he's never played it! He also gave a concert.

  • 1chopin2liszt,

Nice! What school do you attend?

  • His touch and your comments are both a little bit harsh. Surely the world's hardest working pianist deserves better. Yes the performance was a bit brutalized, but I'm just happy somebody actually performs this piece.

  • Live the sound was not as harsh. The piano is pretty

beat up, out of tune, bad voicing and it is a rather large unstable acoustic atmosphere, which, makes it very hard to get a good audio recording.

  • Final comment - if you want to hear a -real- recording of Jeno Jando performing this work, listen to his Naxos recording of complete works of Liszt for piano - vol 8 includes the Legendes. I imagine you can at least sample it at Amazon, etc.

  • FYI - Naxos: "Jenő Jandó is one of the most prolific artists in the history of classical music recording. He is also one of its most appreciated and admired." and from liszt academy site: "....world fame as one of the most excellent performers of standard classical music (his repertoire includes all the piano sonatas of Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert and 27 piano concertos of Mozart)...recognized as an expert of the compositions of Liszt and Bartók." When you've done more, let us all know . . .

  • This man is a beautiful musician and fantastic pianist. Incredible CDs - to even contemplate judging a pianist by a horrible (in terms of production values and piano, acoustics) rec. is ridiculous and ignorant.

As to comments on his age(!) A) Irrelevant - fantastic chops. If you can play better, blow us away with a video response of yourself doing so, rather than making insulting comments. B) Would you like to be one day be criticized and/or dismissed solely because of your age? Grow up.

  • Few lights, bad acoustic, nice performance.

  • is this guy still around, glad to see nice people.

  • Have you ever heard Wilhelm Kempff play this Masterpiece??

I have it on an old vinyl...

    Much much different...

    Much more Liszt!!

  • Is there any piece he's never played?? Does it really exist??? Sounds strange :-D

  • Brutal performance!!!!!! Very very brutal. THIS IS SUPPOSEDLY LEGATO MOSTLY.

  • Very harsh! Have you heard his commercial cds? Have you taken into account this small grand piano? This man is a prolific artist!

  • And let's not forget Ashkenazy!
