Pontian Dance Group "Argonauts" of Athens at a concert in Athens 1999. Lyra is Theodoros Kotidis. Ndaouly is Nikos Theodoridis, the son of the dance teacher (first dancer) Christos Theodoridis. This is the Pyrrhic War dance "Sera", consisting of 2 dances a slow part "Atciabat" an fast "tromakton" with tricks...

  • @guptanicky just to make a bit wider your area of knowledge in ancient greek history. This dance was danced by Achillies at the funeral of Patroclus where he burned his body to honor him. Also where it took its name. Fire=Πυρ (Pirixios) Also found in sayings of Homer and Xenophon(I guess you know about them).

  • Pontians is not Greeks. Pontian is 'Ne mutlu Türküm Diyene' Now Palikarya is in Economic Crisis. They have no force. They are losing their claim.......  Greeting from Eskişehir Turkey. Pontaic brothers. ... Ha ha...

  • @guptanicky This is ancient Spartan war dance. it kept Pontian Greeks. In those days there were no Turks. they have not got out of the caves.

    Learn this is Pirixios dance (xoρος της φωτιας).Pirixios is war dance and dancing with weapons.ARISTOFANIS (450 bc - 388bc) says This was army dance and dancing with weapons.PLATON (427-347bc) says Was a war dance with defence phase and attack phase.OMHROS says that was the most important dance ever.Pirixios after years take the name SERRA because dancing mostly at Trapezountas river Serra.
