This was only a try to imitate the sound of the Theremin on an electronical keyboard (ENSONIQ-ASR 10). An own developed sound, made in 1996 (made with my own voice as a sound-sample!!).
The music could be a filmmusic to an old science fiction movie of the fifties.

Also my tribute to a brilliant electronical instrument ever invented in the world--the THEREMIN! The mystery in sound!!!

Hope you enjoy it...

Also hear a complete composition with this theremin-sound on:

  • Sounds VERY close to a real theremin. Obviously, without all the same dynamics. Very cool though!

  • Thanks so much, my dear friend!

  • This is good. LONG LIVE THEREMIN!!!!

Shame it has no place in today's science fiction film or tv

  • Wow! That's certainly authentic-sounding; amazing that it's a keyboard!

  • Space!

  • The Theremin was the funnest part of the sci-fi movies from the fifties! I love those old corny movies!! Some of them were not so corny though..some were classics like "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (1951), "The Incredible Shrinking Man" (1957) and "War Of The Worlds" (1953). And there are many, many more!!

  • Thanks, my dear friend!

I remember, it was a great difficulty in the past to get this sound.

By imitating a trumpet with my own voice I recorded my voice (tone "c1")on my ENSONIQ (Sampler) with a dynamic microphone, and then edited the sound with the keyboard. I used a very large portamento-effect and detuned the ground-tones -out of standard tuning- a little "higher". So, the sound was "designed".

    Best regards from Germany,

    Volker H. aká Volker400
