Me playing the first part of I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness. I only did the first part, because my lead guitar isn't good enough yet to do the rest... (only been doing lead for a month now, so there are a couple of mistakes in the mini solo)
Trust me... the bass was turned way up.

i personaly use a 15 watt Roland Cube amp for my home recordings.
low watts doesn't have to mean much, lol, it just seems that there's almost no bass in the recording, could be a bad amp i guess, or a camera microphone that doesn't pick it up well.

Yeah, you're right about the dead notes... as for the sound... the reason is quite simple. 10W Amp... I have a larger amp, but I didn't have it with me when I recorded that.

you play a lot more 'dead notes' than the original does, there is only one 'dead note' in the intro riff, the others are all simply pauses.
you might also want to add a little more bass to your guitars sound, it'll sound more like the original that way.
turn bass up to about 50%, mid down all the way, and treble up all the way, that'll do it with most amps.
