A very old video clip of Tatang Ilustrisimo demonstrating knife technique with partner Tony Diego. The second half of the vid is stick technique.

This clip is part of Dr. Remy P. Presas Jr. personal collection and has been posted on youTube for informational purposes only.

  • There was a reason that Tatang Ilustrisimo's fame spread far and wide. He is truly a diamond in a world mostly made of glass. I wish that I could have seen such skill in person. He was truly a rare talent. My best regards to his very fortunate students wherever they may now be....Master Ron Saturno/Cabales Serrada Escrima

  • the old mans flow is like listening to a constant drum beat that explodes and slows down without losing the rhythm... the nuttiest part about watching this is seeing how tatang is actually targeting the vital parts............tell me that isnt awe inspiring in and of itself!

  • @alamat33 Both ilustrisimo's style and serrada are similar bc both practiced together when they were young. i think leo giron practiced with them too

  • Great skills!

  • clap, clap,clap,clap,clap,clap,clap....super galing.....the best!

  • anak ng, lupit! wala pa planax sa panahon na yan, partida pa yan!

  • bwahahah.. . MOH tuSik pAman c TATANG ..ehehehe ....Nice Video ...Rare video ...

  • Ya i was thinking also how similar the style is to serrada. A couple of differences are the stick length of use and the footwork. Im not sure but I wanna say cabales and illustrisimo were from the same era and may have crossed paths.

  • So much like Serrada. There are differences but so much the same.

  • tatang was very much attuned and receptive to his extended surroundings and moreso to body movements of anyone in front of him. Defense and attack is always on a singular count. This i think is the highest form of martial art.

  • pambihirang kontrol naman yun, ang galing ah....

  • Tatang! awe inspiring. great video... thanks for posting!
