Daughter of the legendary late actor-MPs Sunil and Nargis Dutt, Priya Dutt Roncon (42), is the sitting MP from Mumbai North West, the seat which her father representated for five terms?except for 1996 and 1998?when the Shiv Sena won it. Married to Owen Roncon, who runs a music promotions firm, she was four months pregnant with first son Siddharth when AICC president Sonia Gandhi asked her to take the plunge?the seat had fallen vacant after her father died six months ago?and Priya beat Shiv Sena stalwart Madhukar Sarpordar by 1,72,043 votes. The Congress probable from the newly-carved North Central seat, however, says overconfidence does not pay in politics. She spoke to Ranjitt Khomne and Sanjeev Devasia.
