Original Title:
【KAITO】PRAY...a【オリジナル】 ([KAITO] PARY...a [Original])
Originally uploaded to NicoNico Douga on 29/06/2008

Composition, Lyrics, Modulation
And Illustration by Hinayukki@Shigotoshite-P (仕事してP)
Main vocal by Kaito, chorus by Kaiko

Hello dear viewers! This time I would like to present a largely unfinished but nonetheless endearing piece from Hinayukki's debuting days, when she produced 9 clips in a month's time...Oh the excitement of initiation! XD
(I did this translation mainly to satisfy my selfish wish--to make a COMPLETE list of her original songs with subtitles; because the original broadcast has gone private in the latest clean-up act by Hinayukki herself due to her not being satisfied with the quality of some of her early works...I should hope that I hadn't displeased her in doing this, because my intention is to share her works [and every one of them is brilliant from the very beginning, in my humble opinion--her first work showed much better skill at modulation than some producers that has been famous for years!] with like-minded fans of hers who will definitely appreciate them, and I beg her pardon should she consider this as a violation of her statuary rights.)
This was intended as the FIRST part of a story involving a terminally ill young girl (played by Kaiko here--Hinayukki's most famous female vocalist Meiko didn't came to live in her PC until two months later) and her admirer who is willing to sacrifice his life in exchange of hers being preserved (But "He's NOT a lolicon", as Hinayukki said in her description :P)--hence the "...a" in the title (not some silly and fashionable way of saying "prayer"! XD). A second part ("PRAY...b") from Kaiko's point of view was intended but abandoned (possibly Hinayukki doesn't consider the Romance genre a feasible field for her songs after all, because I have combed through all her songs and I don't find any lyrics referring to a romantic relationship except here and--only very vaguely--in "Futatsu no Monogatari".[There are a few others in her CD "Fill e Tua"--at least to my understandings those are...])

DISCLAMER:
I do not own the original contents of this video. The images and soundtrack remain the rightful property of the original author (Hinayukki@仕事してP). Translations may be used elsewhere with credits given to the translator. This video may be deleted upon the request of any of the parties afore mentioned.
(Though this time I most sincerely and desperately wish that she doesn't make such a request-- though it is her absolute right to do so...)

Translated lyrics:[fixed version as always...orz]
Through the mist of the night/Some lost soul did linger
(For he) fell for a maiden/Of an age so tender...
"When was the first time/That (she) caught (my) eyes?
--When the autumn breezes/Caressed (our) cheeks in the night..."

To (her) room (she) was confined/'Cross the bed the maiden did lie
(Her) pale and translucent flesh/Was so painfully endearing to sight
When the man tapped at the little window/The maiden (to him) a smile did bestow
But between these two/Not a word was ever spoke

"The ailment of that child--"/As someone did say--
"Is beyond all cures;/Nothing but DEATH's coming her way..."

O Lord! If such things could be/O! Hear this prayer if you please--
--"Will you not deprive/Such a youth of (her) life..."
If a necessity it doth imply/Then do permit--that I
Take her place and/Be deprived of mine...

Romaji Lyrics:
Yogiri no michi wo tada/Samayo-u mono wa
Hitori no osanaki musume ni/Koi wo shita
Hajimete atta no wa/Itsu no koro datta ka?
-Aki-kaze ga hoho wo nadeta/Yoi no naka

Musume wa heya no naka/Beddo ni yogo-tawari nemuru
Shiroku suki-tooru hada ga itaitashi-i
Chisaku mado wo tataku otoko ni/Musume wa hohoemu
Kotoba mo kawasu koto no na-i futari

Dareka ga itta/Ano ko no yama-i wa
SHI wo matsu dake no/Fuji no yama-i...

Kami yo! Dekiru koto nara/Kono nega-i kiki todoke yo
--"Osanaki inochi wo ubau koto nakare..."
Doushite mo hitsuyou toi-u no nara/Watashi no inochi
Ano ko no kawari ni/Ubautte ike...

  • Thank you so much for subbing~ This was one of the first Kaito songs I heard, and it feels very nostalgic to listen to it again after all this time, especially now that I know what the words mean! :D

  • Huh...that was...very interesting. I'm...not used to hinayukki-san's works featuring Kaito's lower register (I won't lie...I prefer his higher notes; they can sound so lovely. ^^) But, the music was very nice. It's kind of a shame she doesn't think too highly of this piece anymore. I think it's lovely, not so much as a story (cuz I'm not a fan of those types of romances, lolz XP), but as a song it's nice on the ears. ^^ (And everything she writes is GOLD. X#3) Thanks for sharing this one. ^^
