This is a Mr. Heater 30,000 btu , it uses natural gas, the other choice is lp gas. Be certain to make the debris trap otherwise it won't be long before it has problems getting lit.
Also after a while, if it doesn't want to light even though the sparker is doing its job, instead of blowing air from underneath, you can blow air in at the black curved metal plate just below the vertical slits that are at the top of the machine.
Also my December Gas bill (water heater, kitchen stove, vent free heater) was $94, electric was $50.
My January bill was $78, electric $45.
December was very cold, January was freezing and winter storms causing power outages. This heater continues to work without electricity. I LOVE THIS THING!!
Please! Please! Please !!!! Be safe, follow all safety measures. AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR AND SMOKE ALARM, GET IT BEFORE HOOKING THIS THING UP!!!
Thank you.

  • I wonder, did you have carbon monoxide detector?Did it register anything? Also, My windows need replacing, once replaced my house should be very close to air tight. If your place is well insulated, air tight. Maybe you needed a fresh air source for it. But what do I know, I'm just guessing at things. You r having fewer headaches, I have to say you have a gas water heater or cookstove that needs a new filter or is not properly ventilated. check on that, let my know what happens. Get well soon

  • Thanks a lot for the information. If you are correct, if and when my version quits and can't be fixed I'll get the one your talking about because these heaters are the best I have ever seen used. I will never use anything else unless I can longer use gas heaters.

  • I have looked at everything about safety 4 this naturalgas vent free heater. I assume all 3 of your heaters are vent free. There are only 3 things I can see that may be the reason for your headache, nausea. 1. You are super sensitive 2. You have 2 many heaters 4 your home--and maybe you need to insulate better so you wont need so many 3. My heater is natural gas from the city--maybe yours is LP gas?? Maybe LP vent free heaters do give you those headaches---Mine is smell free and works great

  • Do you ever get a gas smell in the house? I have a old gas log non vented type heater that smells horrible.... i'm looking to replace it with one like this.

  • @ceh333 The first i did before and after lighting this heater is smell for gas, I was afraid of the worst thing--you know. But I did not smell anything at all. I thought there would be some kind of aroma that I would have to get use to, like with a propane heater. But there was no smell at all, just wonderful heat, the one the i came to dislike was nothing, it was the fan on the heater. I just didn't like hearing it, i kept it off and ran the fans and ceiling fans in my house. Its SO GREAT!

  • what state you live in using that heater

.you heat your whole house with that? is that your primary sourse of heat ?

  • @spoiler50 I live in Lawrenceville Illinois, it can get pretty cold here but the harsh weather is usually north in chicago or on the east coast. I house is very well insulated but the windows are the original--so they get plasticated. This is my primary heat source--with portable electric ones laying around in case of a failure. My house 1000sq ft,only 2 rooms keep the heat in them unless i have ceiling fans going, now that i have floor fans, it'll be better and i'll replace the windows soon

  • I'm thinking of installing one of these in my apartment here in new York city, my apartment takes a long time to warm up in the morning so I think this will be nice to have in my living room for the cold mornings and nights. Thank you for helping me make my decision with this, you have been very helpful!

  • We had this same stove and the heat was amazing! BUT for the first time in my life I started getting migraines. Didn't make the connection until my house plants got sickly! We got rid of it and replaced with a electric stove. Heat not as good but headaches are fewer and houseplants are happy too! Be careful with these stoves!!!

  • WRONG! There is the Blue Flame version and the Infrared version. Both models come in either Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP). I have the Infrared NG placard version. The Infrared version heats the surfaces not just the air and is a much better heater. You will find both (NG) and (LP) marked on the boxes for both the 4 placard Infrared and the regular Blue-Flame version and each costs the same amount but the Infrared model is the best to heat with. It doesn't just burn up the air.

  • AND my bill gas bill went down by over $155 from my Dec bill from 2010 to my new one Dec 2011. Thank you once again ...

  • I just want to thank you so much for posting this video, I live in Albany, NY( very cold winters ) I finished my basement last year and I had ran new vents for the rooms down there but it was not keeping the basement warm. and since then I have always been looking for new and better ways to heat my basement up, and then I saw this video and it got my eye, so I got one in Lowe's I installed it in Nov and let me tell you IT WORKS GREAT!!!! thank you so much , now I actually hang out in my basement

  • @the1969info I forgot to mention to you that I use propane gas. I apologize.

  • @the1969info

I have a rented house which is 950 sq ft. I have 25,000BTU in the living rm, 10,000BTU in the basement and 10,000BTU in the kitchen. However, I do smell the combuation by products. As per inspection x 3, there's no leak. Don't you get sick? I always have a headache and occasional nausea. The CO monitor is intact but as per my reading, propane, methane, nitrous oxide, and especially carbon DIOxide are by products which can make people sick. Whtat's your comment on this?
