Ughandiman reminded me the other day in one of his songs, of those special times only a Father and daughter can have, and me and mine had one of those precious times in 2001 when she was seven years old and we were on the beach at Bunbury south of Perth in Oz- so happy in glorious weather she came up with the notion of colours being upside down here compared to back home and this little song was the result. Now in December 2009 and -4C outside her and I have come back from the pictures singing in the car together. We saw the film 'Twilight' and she is in love with Robert Pattinson! And I've got to accept (very grudgingly, grumpily and reluctantly)that she will swop her old Dad for a young Buck. But maybe this has captured a moment in time.
Lyrics are by Sarah and I supplied the tune:
Yellow is the colour of a pelicans beak
Yellow is the colour of the sun
Yellow is the colour of a flower
yellow is the colour of the icing on a bun
Colours-Australian colours
They're all upside down
White is black and black is brown
Pink is the colour of the birds in the park
Pink is the colour of my dream
Pink is the colour of my top
Pink is the colour of my sun-cream
White is the colour of the cloud in the sky
White is the colour of the sand
White is the colour of the crashing waves
White is my suntan!
That looks like a lot of fun. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to sing songs with me :)
