  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 0:34, It Was KCBS-TV's The Channel 2 News At 6 Video Open From Monday Evening, March 25, 1985.

  • Is that lot where Tony Cox stood where Whole Foods and Kmart now stand?

  • @WestlakeSig KNBC did the same thing from 1993 to 1994.

  • KCBS, at the time, was changing their logo and graphics. The "2" logo you see on the opening of the broadcast was the older logo while the "2;s" you see everywhere else were part of the newer graphics package. Strangely, we had that happen recently at KCBS with the dump of the "NewsCentral" branding we had for all of a minute!

  • Why does KCBS have a different logo in the open, but shows a different CBS2 Logo everywhere else?

  • Mac later worked at KIII and WOAI; he is now a spokesman for a San Antonio-area school district.

  • Ann Curry! Ha ha! Love the hair!

  • Man....busy news day with an all-star cast of L.A. news. This clip didn't disappoint.

I had no idea Chris Blatchford and the mighty Ann Curry used to be on Ch. 2...think I vaguely remember Schubeck being there.

  • its sad that few days ago we had a gas explosion

  • This was before Tony switched to KTTV...and then joined KHJ in 87-88, before leaving the biz.

  • for being 1985 these graphics are really good

  • I always wanted to see Tony Cox go farther in TV News.

  • The KCBS open in 1985 seems simular to WJKW's open from the "One For All" campaign at the time.

  • Mac is in San Antonio.

  • serioulsy what happened to the weatherman

  • Yes, I was wondering whatever happened to Tony Cox. I'm glad he's doing well. And whatever happened to Ann Curry--I forgot, she's on Today anchoring the news..

  • Tony Cox is now a substitute host at NPR.

  • Towards the end of the video we see a young Colleen Williams, now the main female co-anchor at KNBC. Take a look and you will also see her infamous grey streak which is no longer existent.

  • Interesting....I went to Fairfax High School nearby from 1998-2002 and grew up not to far from the area. My High School English teacher used to talk about this. I recall, the fire was the result of a methane gas explosion, because there was a lot of gas undergound in the area.

There was protest about building new shops in the area, but now you have the Grove and the Beverly Center, which attract many guests at a time. I guess the NIMBY activists could not win this time.
