This is my 55 gallon reef tank back in January of 2008.
It has been setup for about 5 years now. Although it is not visible in the video it has a huge hair algae problem. I had just done my usual scraping of the tank walls and LR with a tooth brush so it does not look as bad as it really is.
I have since eliminated the hair algae using a radical method and I have not seen it back for about the last two months. To see how my tank looks now with the algae gone click the link below. You will see how the Coraline Algae has taken over with the hair algae gone.

  • Anyone looking to set up a saltwater or reef tank should read about it and plan first. You should not be simply thinking about it and wondering if it is hard. If you read, then you will know.

  • Well I finallly got rid of the hair algae. My LFS sold me this Kent Marine Rock Prep and it has this little scrubber at the end. So I did a 100% water change and scrubbed all the algae off then put everything back together and dosed my tank with some API Algaefix and that got rid of it all. Now my tank is thriving with copepods and the coralline algae is growing everywhere.
