@ClassicTVMan1981X After numberous buy outs Gardner to Perkins then Perkins to Catepillar they now own the design to the engines. So they can make them without royalty to Gardners even though the havent appeared on any buses in the UK yet as the 6LXCT failed Euro 1 emission standards.

It's the same displacement as the Cat 1673C, 1674 and 3306. All of them have a 4-3/4" bore and 6" stroke to obtain the 10.5 liter/638 cubic inch displacement. I wonder if there were lawsuits concerning the Cat diesels' similarity to these Gardners?

Very nice, ex crosville DOG 123!

What was the upstairs and downstairs headroom on these?.

Engine sound is like MCW Metrobus

@6V92TA The 6LX and later updates are 10.45 Litres approx 638 cubic inches Somewhere in the middle of a cummins L10 and M11. I hate L10 Engines especially with ZF gearboxes.

it does sound similar. but a metrobus has a different gearbox they are noisier than olympians
Thats strange. It sounds just like an ex Leeds Metrobus such as 7575!

It is the same type of engine and gearbox, thats why it will sound like a Metrobus.
