  • Yes this music dates back to 12th century. Yes some acknowldgement is given to King Henry VIII. But the patent is held by Ludwig van Beethoven. That means this song is owned by... NO ONE... and everyone.

  • @rookieninetynine You're right. The basic melody has been traced back around 1,100 years . . . Too much uneducated credit given to King Henry

    A common misconception. There is no historical evidence that suggests King Henry wrote Greensleeves. Even the Tudors gave his credit for that... They were wrong.
