  • @oakjackson Got you note about Double Indemnity. Not too sure why you could post of reply. New version of Youtube channel seems to have some kinks in it. Agree Double Indemnity is probably her best performance. It is a shame she never received an Oscar. Though at least she had four nominations (Wrong Number, Double Indemnity, Ball of Fire, and Stella Dallas) and she did receive the Honorary Award for career in 1982. I'll be posting a personal Stanwyck favorite, Union Pacific.

  • @Quatorzel4 Good point. If you were giving out the Oscar, for which role would Ms. Sublime take home the statue?

  • Ahhh the sublime Stanwyck!! WHY did she never receive an Oscar???

  • @berjaboy Thanks for the extra information. I'll add to my files. You are right, the subject matter in this film was shocking for the time. Interesting to compare it to Design for Living which was released about the same time, though the dialogue was cleaned up and the female character was made to say repeatedly that there was no sex involved, it was pretty provocative. Thanks again.

  • This was such a great film, so ahead of its time. This would of been shocking stuff in the 40s and 50s let alone early 30s. Even though the Hayes Code was in place at this time, it was a joke and rarely enforced. It was this film that changed all that and made the censors crack down on movie content or face massive boycotts that were threatened by the church, and films like this wouldn't be seen again for almost 30 years.
