Magic Jack - Skype Killer ... NOT!

The Magic Jack is the latest thing in VOIP technology that goes a long way toward making internet based phone service available to anyone that has a broadband connection.

Something I forgot to mention in the video is that one of the feature it has (which Skype doesn't) is that it's possible to have 911 service via your Magic Jack phone number.

The features that this has and the price of it's service combine to make it a real Skype killer.

My thought on the advertisements is "who cares!" So far the ads I see are only for the magic jack and I just minimize it anyway. Someone also made a magic jack popup blocker... search it on youtube, it works great. As for magic jack analyzing my phone calls... it would be done by a program to match ads to me and since I'm just calling friends and family, I really don't care!

Overall, I think this is a good video, but I would lose the oversized grandpa sunglasses!

@canaguy Yes i totally see that point, as i said it was a Skype killer for me*. By the way, i still use Skype... but just cancelled the calling part of it. I think its like comparing apples and oranges... they are two different things only sharing 1 common factor and thats calling someone. Skype: computer chat and video and calling all from the PC. MagicJack: calling from reg phone "through" the pc. So slightly similar but still different.

@codybrucewilliams  HOWEVER, the plus of SKYPE is "NO HARDWARE" to carry or get lost when traveling.

SKYPE from any computer in the world , anywhere ! As universal as the password or PIN on a credit card.

NO hardware to be stolen or lost or forgot at home. Call home from abroad and get voicemail or send pictures or important documents (IE replace lost / stolen ID when overseas)

i did cancel my Skype subscription 3 days after testing magic jack... same quality but cheaper + phone number + works with regular phone ability. It was my Skype killer!
