This is me playing the SDL Doom based JLiME-Doom on a HP Jornada 690 running JLiME Linux (Donkey IceWM with kernel 2.6.17). A little sluggish, and here I don't use any sound while playing (sound works a lot better with JLiME Winter).

  • how did you change the desktop shell?

  • @WatchCharmedOnline I'm not quite sure I remember it right any more, but I think there was a submenu for changing the shell's theme in the "IceWM" start menu.

  • hey can i play this on my ipaq??

  • @jonnyattack Probably, Doom is ported to a wide range of devices / OSs :)

Most certainly! The Pocket PC ( which includes the iPaq) has a great Doom Port available. There's also a good Quake Port as well.

  • @ultragaming1993 Thanks man.

  • @CrArC A very good question. I did own a 5MX a few months back but I never tried running Linux on it as the EPOC OS is pretty much perfect. But yes, it would be possible to use mouse via sync port, but on the Jornada it'd be even easier to buy a PCMCIA USB module and use it from there. That is, if someone did the coding work and you wouldn't use the WiFi PCMCIA module at the same time :)

  • @SymbiosisSera since you're running linux wouldn't it be possible to use a serial mouse? People put linux on their Psion 5mx's and can then use serial mice via the sync port - which is of course, technically a serial port. Can't see why the Jornada would be any different! :)
