Before entering Gobekli Tepe, guide Oz gave a lengthly introduction while still on the bus about its past history, discovery and the occupants. This hilltop sanctuary is only 15 km/9.3 miles northeast of Urfa (now called Sanliurfa) in Southeastern Turkey.

Gobekli Teke is considered the OLDEST human-made place of worship every discovered. Two thousand years later, the entire complex of stones, pillars and carvings were deliberately buried. Why? No one knows. A team of German and Turkish archaeologists are currently excavating the site.

The very interesting monoliths decorated with carved reliefs of animals and abstract pictograms kept the site from being a "yawner" - "pile of Rocks" for us. That is, whenever we were given a sparse moment to actually focus without being hustled on...

  • the turks weren't even in the caucuses at this time. they were still in asia

this was most likely built by the ancestors of Armenians

armenians are known to be the earliest civilization living in this area (including Ararat)

    just think about this,

+ARMENIA was the first christian nation (obviously, religions big with armenians)

+ARMENIANS, assyrians, greeks are known to be the starters of civilization in mesopotamia

+the oldest leather shoe- found in ARMENIA

+this area was stolen from ARMENIA

  • 10,000 BC is nothing!! NOTHING in the history of man.

  • @lordhellfjord Armenians are NOT indo-european, idiot.

    Armenians speak an indo-european language.

what an idiot u are. what a coincidence that u are turkish ahaha. just a jealous fool who thinks that stealing land some of the most ancient civilizations will allow you to take credit for their contributions to civilization

go back to central asia, you turk. continue what your ancestors did before they learned from us

live a nomadic life and live in your tents

what do u know about civilization

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 There were no Proto-IEs back at that time. It was probably a proto-eurasiatic tribe(or some form of confederation)who built that site. It's late ice age, mind you

  • @VengeanceIsMine79 There were no people as Proto-IEs back at that time. It was probably a proto-eurasiatic tribe(or even some form of confederation) who built that site. It is late ice age, mind you.

  • @nuneh Armenians are INDO EUROPEAN you fucking faggot. There was no such thing as proto-indo-european 12000 fucking years ago. The Proto-Eurasiatic language was nearly about its completion of dialectification, yet you are speaking about Armenians? Go on and sleep in your fantasy world, ignorant kid.

  • I mean, we're finding things that should make us stop and think, "hey, maybe we don't have the slightest clue about what people were like back then, they must have been highly advanced to build this site" Rather than the idiot alternative

  • "Oz" should have prefaced his speach by saying, "I'm just making all this up and restating what I was told" We don't know if it was a place of worship, why is it that every ancient stone site we find we say, "oh yea they worshipped here, bla bla bla" Just appreciate it, stop spreading the idiot paradigm that people back then were primative. I bet they had good reason to build, better than we do today

  • @nmg70nmg We can build island, go to the moon, reach the deepest part of the ocean, make steel contraption fly and sail all over the world, make bomb that level city in a flash, but we can't make a big pile of rock, this make so much sense.

  • @nmg70nmg Give me 10,000 slaves and i will build you something even bigger and greater...

  • @neurotic4ever A ramp made of dirt would collapse under it's own weight? That make sense... not.
